Pajdasi - fundraising dance party on 11/14 at MIT, for the Croatian Tour 2011

posted Oct 27, 2010 6:55 AM by Mirena Bagur

Pajdashi, a Boston-based Croatian music group devoted to the traditional folk and popular songs from Croatia, will be performing at the MIT Folk Dance Club on November 14th at 8 p.m. at the MIT Stratton Student Center in Lobdell  Dining Hall on the second floor.

Pajdashi's passion for music is recognized by both the American and Croatian folk music  followers. Their debut album "U kolo!” produced last year, was well recieved. In addition, it has been selected to participate in the International Folk Festival in Zagreb, Croatia, next summer. In 2011, The International Folk Festival will celebrate its 45th anniversary by featuring groups of emigrant Croatians from other countries.  Pajdashi has been chosen to participate not only for the quality of the group’s music, but for their committment to safeguarding and preserving the Croatian music heritage among  the Croatian emigrants and the local culture.

As you can imagine, the group is excited about this inter-cultural collaboration.  According to MIT Dance Club tradition, there is no set fee to participate in the dance party, but donations are strongly encouraged. To support its upcoming tour, including renewing instruments and costumes, as well as contributing to the transportation cost, Pajdashi will be selling its CD and T-shirts. As a thanks for your donation, the group will be providing some Croatian culinary goodies.  Cash and check donations (written to New England Friends of Croatia, for Pajdashi) are tax deductible.
